START A FOOD BLOG TOO
How to become a food blogger (and make money!)
I will show you how to become a food blogger and make money on internet. By doing what you love, where you want and when you want. That was one of the main reasons to make this website.
A lot of people envy my way of living. Lots of them tell me that they would also love to travel as much as I do. They dream of traveling around the world and visiting places like I do. But the main reasons why they can’t are lack of money or time. Or both. If I was able to turn my life around, you can also do it. Learn how to become a food blogger like me too.
My greatest passion in life is traveling
New experiences, the adventure, the freedom… I have always dreamed of traveling. The idea of spending my days working in an office from Monday until Friday for the rest of my life was quite scary. Even though I had a very interesting job and a sea of opportunities to climb up the ladder to extremely well paid jobs.
But still, a lot of my friends and colleagues didn’t understand my decision: ‘Are you really going to abandon your career?’, ‘How will you pay your bills?’, ‘Will you have enough money?’, ‘That will never work’, ‘You will get bored quickly’… I have heard all this so much.
But since my husband and I decided to take that big step and quit, we are having the time of our life.
We truly have an extraordinary life.
We lived in Thailand for a couple of months, then rented apartments in Barcelona, around the Mediterranean, in Malaysia, the US… We’ll be heading for Asia again soon. We found paradise in Tenerife, a Spanish island in the Atlantic Ocean, said goodbye to Belgium and moved here permanently. But traveling stays part of our life.
We love our nomadic lifestyle! Learn how to become a food blogger and this could be your life too!
And what about income and money?
We need money to keep traveling of course. This was our goal: make money by doing something we really love, something we can do everywhere around the world while traveling for months that will pay our bills.
We are looking for a very flexible job that we can easily push aside if we feel like going for a hike in the snowy mountains for a couple of days or when the weather is just too good to stay inside all day instead of going for a refreshing swim in the Indian Ocean.
“Our solution was simple: make money by doing something we really love, whenever and wherever we feel like!”
We became digital nomads.
Gastronomy and food are my passion. I created a website to share my favorite homemade recipes.
My husband has a website in French about how to achieve your financial freedom to do what we are doing: traveling and making money.
We make money on internet by doing what we love
We can write and publish blog posts when and where we want. The only things you need to do that are a laptop and an internet connection.
We are making money while traveling and enjoying the good life. Paradise.
I am sure that you also have a passion that you could easily turn into a steady income!
Running a website or blog is a fantastic way to gain an extra income on top of your monthly paycheck.
It gives me a boost to see that people start thinking about my way of living and if they could do it as well. If I can get that little flame of creativity lighted inside of you, that’s the encouragement I need to keep on doing what I do. It makes me happy to make someone else happy.
I get a lot of questions about how to become a food blogger, how to start a website, make it successful and make money with it.
That’s why I have created an e-course about blogging, how to become a food blogger and where to start.
My website today has more than one thousand recipes and is kicking off faster and faster each day. It’s like a snowball effect. Lots of my recipes are number one in Google ranking and have been featured in magazines such as Fox News Magazine. One of the most popular recipe app in the US at this moment called SideChef contacted me asking whether they could feature a bunch of my recipes on their app.
I have almost 7.000 followers on Google+ and over 32.000 followers on Pinterest. Thanks to my recipe website, famous kitchen brand KitchenAid asked me to become one of their stand mixer mini ambassadors! I am creating, cooking and shooting recipes for KitchenAid – how fantastic is that!
Both me and my husband are selling e-books and e-courses. My husband sells e-courses in financial advise in French: www.lucbrialy.com. In total we make easily over one thousand dollars a month.
That might look like peanuts maybe but for me and my husband that’s quite a lot of money to back up our financial portfolio (my husband made already some money in his career). We are not big spenders, on the contrary. We can live with little which makes us rich. Our largest expenses are plane tickets and still we can keep that price low since we can travel outside the holiday seasons. Once we get to our destination, daily life is cheap, especially in Asia. One thousand dollars per month in Vietnam is a fortune. Even in our European basecamp Tenerife prices are less than half compared to the US.
The greatest thing about a successful website is that after a while money starts coming in whether we work that day or not. And our websites keep growing whether we work fast and publish a lot of new stuff or do very little or nothing for a couple of days. We make money when we travel, when we go for a swim in the ocean and even when we are asleep.
My husband sells e-courses every day, whether he is taking a shower, having breakfast, blogging, hiking, sleeping, working or on a cruise boat. Sales are taken care off automatically, without breaking a sweat. One hundred percent reliable.

How I look back in horror to the days when I had to go to work in the office, behind a desk without a view. Totally unaware of this freedom I know now.
Attracting new clients is the hardest part for most of us. That’s the number one reason why starting a new business idea is put on the back burner and eventually discarded. That’s the past now. You don’t have to find new clients, your new clients come to you day in day out.
Another aspect that is priceless as well is happiness. Being able to live your life the way you want it. Running a website or blog is a way of working in peace and enjoying your personal freedom. That’s why it is for us impossible to go back to a nine to five and being deskbound.
Is making a website really as easy as it looks?
That’s probably the question people ask me the most. The answer is yes and no. It all depends on your definition of ‘easy’.
Don’t think that getting you blog online and writing just a handful of posts will result in a bunch of money falling into your lap just like that. That’s the fantastic misunderstanding about making money with a website and the reason that many new websites and blogs don’t make it through their first year. It’s not that easy.
There are a lot of scammers, sharks and cons who promise you thousands of euros if you buy and use their monetizing methods. You make them rich, not the other way round. Don’t let them trap you!
First you have to understand that creating a successful website needs time, a lot of work and commitment. Second of all: you have to truly love and adore the topic that you are going to write and blog about. Your visitors and followers really have to feel your passion, dedication and knowledge. This is one of the most important aspects of a website.
The good news is that you don’t have to be a Pulitzer Price winning writer, you don’t need a college degree in computer science. Just the internet and laptop basics are enough, believe me.
You will have to learn a lot in the beginning of course, but you can do it if you really want to succeed in starting up a good website business that could possibly change your life forever. Learn how to become a food blogger!
It is that simple. You can do this.
How much time do I have to put into maintaining a website?
My husband and I try to keep it to an average of 2 hours a day.
But that can differ enormously from day to day.
When we are at home in Tenerife I am easily working, writing, cooking, shooting pictures and making recipe videos from morning ‘till evening. With a smile! And if I don’t feel like it, I take a day off (lol) and go to the beach, go hiking or read a good book. When we are traveling (roughly 6 months a year) our work rhythm heavily depends on our travel schedule.
When we plan a trip without internet we make sure to schedule some posts in advance but other than that we don’t work then for a couple of days. If we are renting an apartment somewhere for a longer period of time we get up early, work for about 2 hours and then leave to go visit places for the rest of the day. I sometimes buy local products and try to make more authentic and local dishes: if the kitchen and light quality allow it. I learnt how to stop being obsessive about feeling the need to create dishes or new posts every single day.
All we need to do this is our MacBook (it fits into my shoulder bag) and an internet connection.
I vividly recall those couple of afternoons that we spent in the sun on a terrace in Barcelona, New York, Saigon or Phuket while sipping coffee or iced teas. With our laptops, writing, talking and enjoying every single moment of it. Remember my office desk with a dated computer screen and view on a wall? In fact as I am writing this I am in my favorite beach bar here in Tenerife with my feet in the sand and the sun on my shoulders. Just finished my 4th cup of coffee and the hardest decision today that I have to make is whether I want the octopus salad for lunch or the grilled sardines.
What is the greatest thing of it all is that I can work whenever and wherever I want. That’s the greatest luxury in my life.
I want to do just like you but I have no clue what to write about!
The majority of aspiring bloggers who have a fixed idea change ideas once they really start building their websites.
I had two concepts in mind when I started but they both didn’t make it. Once I started writing I didn’t feel at ease, it was no fun. My husband turned his website around four times before eventually finding his true calling!
Changing the subject and domain name of your website is very easy. It takes five minutes all in all.
How to become a food blogger and make a website that makes money?
There are numerous ways to make money on internet with a good website.
A couple of examples: advertising (tools such as Google AdSense), affiliate programs, selling your own products (like our courses), writing sponsored posts…
I am not a good writer
Neither was I in the beginning.
But like I said before, if you are really passionate about a subject writing about it will make it much easier for you. I’m impressed that over the years I have no problem whatsoever to fill a blog post about any food related subject. Your creativity will grow along with your website, believe me!
What will a website cost?
Between one hundred and two hundred dollars to start up your website. And less than 4$ a month to host your site. This includes your domain name, web hosting, a predesigned website layout if you like.
Anyway, you don’t risk losing much.
Today your new life starts.
Try my method
I was able to start a successful website, so can you.
