I have prepared this crosse and blackwell dinner numerous evenings.
But somehow for some time I was not really aware to the fact that this recipe was actually named after the famous British brand of its main ingredient.
Pickles, also known as piccalilli.
This dinner is a family favorite.
Pork chops in a creamy Crosse and Blackwell cream sauce is also the first dish that my husband cooked for me when we moved in together.
And I love it so much!
Piccalilli pickles in a cream sauce?
I had never heard of it before. He sure knows how to impress the ladies!
We have cooked this dish numerous times again ever since. So much so that it has become a family classic here at home. And with good reason because it is an absolute treat.
And so easy to make with very little ingredients.
Best Crosse and Blackwell Sauce Pork Chops
This golden jar of delicious pickled vegetables is one of many I treasure in my fridge.
It is a fantastic product because it is cheap, ready to use and also easy to make at home if you are crazy about it. I often make piccalilli pickles at home, find my recipe here.
It is great fun, no doubt about it!
I mainly use cold pickles in combination with bread, cold cuts and cheese. And it is also great as a condiment to spice up a juicy roast or even a homemade hamburger.
The following recipe is a drop dead simple one and a family favorite here as well.
Because who can say no to a juicy pork chop in a Crosse and Blackwell piccalilli cream sauce!
Someone once made a comment on social media about this crosse and blackwell recipe. Saying that this was not cooking, but simply opening a jar.
Oh well. The best helmsmen stand on shore, right.
I usually serve these pork chops with golden fries and a green salad. Or mashed potatoes and steamed green beans.
However this time I went for a jacked potato and roasted cherry tomatoes. You can also subsititute the pork and use chicken or turkey instead if you like!
Best Crosse and Blackwell Sauce Pork Chops Recipe
- 2 fresh pork chops
- ½ cup cream (120 ml)
- 3 tbsp piccalilli pickles
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
Pour the cream in a large saucepan and place it over medium heat until simmering. Then add the piccalilli pickles.
- Stir well and gently boil the sauce simmer 2 more minutes. Check the seasoning and add extra pepper or salt to taste if necessary.
Cover the saucepan, turn the heat low and let the sauce simmer until it is time to plate up. In the meantime season the pork chops on both sides with a good dash of pepper and salt.
Add the butter to a large non-stick pan and place it over medium-high heat until melted. Once the butter starts to foam, add the seasoned pork chops.
Bake the pork chops for 2 to 3 minutes until they are nicely brown on one side. Then turn them over and bake them on the other uncooked side.
When that is done, turn the heat off and let the pork chops rest in the hot pan for another 2 minutes until cooked through. Then place the browned pork chops onto warm plates and top with the warm pickles cream sauce. Finish with some freshly chopped parsley and freshly ground black pepper. Serve immediately.
