Have you ever been to Thailand? I have and when I was there back then I followed a cooking class about Thai cuisine.
An eye opener!
Thai Flavors
What surprised me the most though is the simplicity of flavors in Thai food because main ingredients are mint, sugar, lime juice and garlic.
Don’t let that sugar scare you off though.
I was a bit reluctant to add sugar to my Thai dishes at first. Until you leave out the sugar and your meal will definitely lack that basic Thai depth of flavor.
I am using palm sugar. You can easily find it in a Chinese supermarket.
Palm Sugar
If you can’t find any, then I suggest you replace it by brown sugar instead of caster sugar because it lacks that caramel flavor that palm or brown sugar have. Caster sugar is a very in your face sweetener.
I guess the other ingredients speak for themselves then.
We adored this salad.
