A couple of months ago I bought a jar of black pepper sauce in my favorite Asian supermarket here in town.
And it was empty before I realised it, because that stuff was sooooo good!
I literally would put it in almost all of our dinners.
No wonder it was empty very fast.
But here I am again, craving something – anything with black pepper sauce.
What shall I do?

I am sure that I can whip that up with the ingredients that I have in my fridge and pantry and make this recipe for black pepper chicken and hokkien noodles from scratch…

So look what other ingredients I tossed in my wok.
Diced chicken breast, chopped sweet onion, garlic, ginger, fresh bell pepper, a handful of fresh mint. And precooked hokkien noodles, what a lovely combination.

Easy Black Pepper Chicken Stir Fry Recipe
Chunky chicken stir fry recipe with bell peppers and a spicy black pepper sauce! Are you in for an Asian dinner tonight? Try this one!
- 7 oz fresh chicken breast (200 g), diced
- 1 medium red bell pepper cleaned and sliced
- 1 medium garlic clove sliced
- ½ sweet onion sliced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger sliced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 2 tbsp dark soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Chinese cooking wine or sake
- 2 tsp plain flour
- 2 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
- 10,5 oz hokkien noodles (300 g), precooked
- 1 a handful fresh mint
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
Pour the vegetable oil in a large non-stick pan or wok and place it over high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the diced chicken.
Stir fry the chicken for 2 minutes until seared on all sides. Then add the sliced onion, ginger and garlic.
Stir well and cook for 3 minutes. Then add the bell pepper and freshly ground black pepper.
Stir fry the chicken and vegetables for another 2 minutes. Now add the cooking wine (or sake), fish sauce and soy sauce.
Sprinkle with the flour and stir the chicken and vegetables again.
Now add the hokkien noodles.
Turn the heat lower and cook the chicken and noodles for another 3 minutes. Right in the end add the lemon juice and the fresh mint.
Stir and divide the black pepper chicken noodles over large bowls. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve hot.
