I am June and I love food!
Where does this love come from? I have no idea honestly. As far as I can remember I have always been interested in food and flavor combinations, even as a child. I grew up in a vegetarian family but it seems like this has only increased my interest in the forbidden goodies even more.
I would snip out recipes from magazines and papers and keep them in a shoebox. Numerous times I leafed through them, reading every recipe like a romance, daydreaming about how a dish would taste like, wondering how unknown spices and condiments like saffron or curry leaves would taste like.
Never cooked a lot back then and that didn’t change when I left home and went to live on my own. I felt very insecure and lacked the confidence to step up my cooking skills. The only dishes I knew well were pea soup, pasta aglio olio and zucchini risotto.
And then I met my foodie husband! He put me on a culinary rollercoaster, just that push in the back I needed so dearly. He taught me how to cook and I picked up the pace from there. My confidence grew daily and so did my food knowledge and successful recipes collection.
So here’s how this website was born. Friends and family would stop by for dinner, ask for my recipes and I would write them down a thousand times. So I started to think of an easier way to share my recipes. And then I watched the movie Julie & Julia. Bingo.
Here I am now, 12 years and a humble 1000 recipes later. What I do here: I’m the recipe developer, cook, photographer, food stylist, blogger, writer and publisher. My husband is the software geek behind the scenes.
I live in Europe but I travel half of my time. I lost my heart in Asia. Love the food, love the people. My most favorite city is Hong Kong! Whenever I’m traveling I try to follow a couple of cooking classes to enrich my food passion even more.
When I’m back home I love experimenting. I can easily spend a whole day in my kitchen. Put on some music, pour a glass of wine, work slowly and learn fast. My recipe collection consists of several flavors, cuisines and influences: French, Italian, Spanish, Mediterranean and Asian.
Sharing is caring. I truly hope I can pass on my love and passion for food to you!
Cheers,
